Wines of Ripatransone

In addition to the beauty and rich cultural heritage, one can not think of Ripatransone without thinking of wine. Ripa is blessed with wonderful wines at surprisingly affordable prices. Wines from Ripatransone are distinctive for their combination of elevation, maritime influence, and deeply traditional farming. Vineyards sit on rolling clay-limestone soils with steady sea breezes that moderate summer heat, allowing grapes to ripen slowly while retaining bright acidity and aromatic lift. This terroir gives local varieties like Pecorino and Passerina crisp minerality and saline freshness, while reds such as Rosso Piceno blends (often Montepulciano and Sangiovese) show firm structure, dark fruit, and earthy spice without heaviness. The area’s small, family-run estates and low-intervention methods further preserve a sense of place, resulting in wines that feel rustic yet precise—expressive, food-friendly, and unmistakably tied to their landscape

In addition to small family vineyards making private stock there are fantastic commercial options that  will be easy to try when you come to the festival. Here are some of the outstanding producers in Ripa.

Cantina dei Colli Ripani

Often referred to simply as “Colli Ripani” since hundreds of local producers participate, it is kind of Ripa’s “home team”. Colli Ripani is a cooperative winery supported by over 330 local producers, born from a strong desire to protect and enhance its wine production through respect for the lands that produce native Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Pecorino, and Passerina wines.

Colli Ripani has several very affordable wines of very high quality, but do yourself a favor and splurge a little on their “Diavolo e Vento”

Le Caniette

Le Caniette Morellone is one of the top wines of Ripatransone.

It is a family-run winery, renowned for its production of high-quality organic wines. The winery is committed to sustainability and environmental protection, adopting agricultural practices that respect the natural ecosystem.

Le Caniette is known for its focus on native varietals, such as Pecorino, Montepulciano, and Grenache, and for its focus on quality over quantity. The vineyards are located on terraces offering breathtaking views, surrounded by vineyard-covered hills and mountains.

Their Morellone is a favorite of the festival organizers.

Simone Capecci

Simone Capecci wines express the authentic terroir and indigenous traditions of Italy’s Marche region with clarity and depth. Rooted in a family-run estate in Ripatransone, the winery focuses on organic viticulture and the cultivation of traditional local varieties like Pecorino, Passerina, Sangiovese, and Montepulciano, some of which were nearly lost to extinction before the Capecci family helped revive them.

Their Picus is strongly recommended.v

Cantina Numa

Cantina Numa in Ripatransone (Marche) is a small, organic family-driven winery that stands out for crafting expressive wines that reflect the unique terroir of Italy’s Adriatic hills. The estate focuses on indigenous Marche varieties like Pecorino and Passerina, alongside classical Montepulciano and Sangiovese reds, all tended with meticulous care from vine to bottle. Their wines are typically small-production and artisanal in character, with Pecorino and Rosso Piceno among the highlights praised for quality and authentic regional expression. The winery’s commitment to organic viticulture and thoughtful, plot-specific vinification aims to capture the freshness of their coastal-influenced vineyards and the deep identity of the local soils

Tenuta Cocci Grifoni

Tenuta Cocci Grifoni produces wines that are deeply rooted in the identity of Italy’s Marche region, distinguished by their connection to local indigenous grapes and a long family winemaking tradition dating back to 1933. The estate is especially renowned for reviving the ancient Pecorino grape, crafting expressive whites like the Offida DOCG Colle Vecchio Pecorino that balance vibrant acidity, mineral depth, and fruit complexity — a true reflection of the hilly Adriatic terroir. Their range also includes elegant Passerina, structured Rosso Piceno Superiore, and other varietals that showcase both freshness and nuanced character.
